The webcam test shows a live preview from your camera, reports the actual resolution and frame rate your browser receives, lets you switch between cameras and saves a snapshot. Nothing is recorded or uploaded.
How to test your webcam
- Press Start webcam and allow camera access.
- Check the preview and the reported resolution and frame rate.
- Choose another camera from the list if you have more than one.
Camera not detected?
- Allow camera access from the icon in your browser’s address bar.
- Close apps that may be using the camera, such as Zoom, Teams or Skype.
- Check for a privacy shutter or a camera function key (often F8 or F10 on laptops).
- On Windows check Settings → Privacy → Camera; on macOS check System Settings → Privacy & Security → Camera.
Frequently asked questions
Why is the resolution lower than advertised?
The tool requests 1920×1080; some cameras or USB ports deliver less, and low light can reduce the frame rate.
Is the video saved?
No. Only a snapshot is saved, and only when you click the button.
