Design: colours, size, logo

Create static QR codes that never expire for URLs, plain text, Wi-Fi logins, WhatsApp chats, email, phone, SMS, vCard contacts and map locations. Customise colours, dot style, size and error correction, add a centre logo, and download PNG (up to 2048 px) or vector SVG.

How to create a QR code

  1. Choose what the QR code should do, for example Website or Wi-Fi.
  2. Fill in the details. The code updates instantly.
  3. Optionally change colours or add a logo, then download PNG or SVG and test it with your phone camera.

Static QR codes never expire

Many “free” QR sites create dynamic codes that redirect through their servers and stop working when a trial ends. Codes made here are static: the content is stored in the pattern itself, so they work forever with no account and no tracking.

Tips for codes that scan reliably

  • Keep dark modules on a light background with strong contrast.
  • Keep the quiet zone (white border) around the code.
  • Print at least 2 × 2 cm (0.8 in), larger for posters viewed from a distance.
  • When adding a logo, error correction is raised to High so up to 30% of the code can be covered.
  • Use SVG for print so the code stays sharp at any size.

Wi-Fi and WhatsApp QR codes

A Wi-Fi QR code lets guests join your network by pointing their camera, without typing the password. A WhatsApp QR code opens a chat with your number, optionally with a pre-filled message, which is ideal for shop counters and business cards.

What does this tool do?

Creates static QR codes that never expire — for URLs, plain text, Wi-Fi logins, WhatsApp chats, email, phone, SMS, vCard contacts and map locations. Customise colours, dot style, size and error correction, add a centre logo, and download PNG (up to 2048 px) or vector SVG.

How do I use this tool?

  1. Enter your values in “QR code type”, “Website address”, “Text” and the other fields.
  2. Click “Remove logo” to run the tool and see the result.
  3. Use “Download PNG” to save the result.

How does it work?

The content is encoded per the QR standard (ISO/IEC 18004): data is converted to bit streams, Reed–Solomon error correction is added, and the modules are laid out with finder patterns. Higher error-correction levels survive damage and logos but hold less data. Codes are static — the content lives in the pattern itself, so they work forever with no redirect server.

Use cases in Pakistan

QR codes are everywhere in Pakistan now: Easypaisa/JazzCash merchant payments, restaurant menus, Wi-Fi sharing at home (“scan to join” beats dictating passwords), wedding invitation location links, and freelancers’ business cards linking to portfolios. Static codes are ideal because they never expire or depend on a subscription.

From Lahore’s software houses to freelance developers working with Gulf and Western clients, these small utilities punctuate every workday: checking a payload, generating a key, converting a format. They are the screwdrivers of the trade — unglamorous, indispensable, and used dozens of times daily.

Limitations

Static codes cannot be edited after printing — a typo in the URL means reprinting. Very long URLs make dense codes that cheap cameras struggle with; shorten links first. A heavy centre logo needs high error correction or the code may not scan.

Edge cases in specifications can surprise: when a result looks wrong, check the spec’s fine print (or the tool’s stated conventions) before blaming the tool. For production-critical work, verify against your own toolchain as well.

Frequently asked questions

Are these QR codes free for commercial use?

Yes. There are no limits, watermarks or expiry dates. “QR Code” is a registered trademark of DENSO WAVE, which allows free use of the standard.

Can I track scans?

Static codes cannot be tracked. Add UTM parameters to your URL with the UTM Link Builder to measure visits in Google Analytics.

Can I edit a QR code after printing?

No, the content is fixed. If you might change the destination, point the code at a page on your own site that you can update or redirect.

Why does my QR code not scan?

Check contrast (dark on light), make sure the quiet zone is not cropped, and avoid very long URLs that make the pattern dense.

Do these QR codes expire?

No — they are static: the data is encoded in the pattern itself, not on a redirect server. They work forever, offline, with no subscription.

Static vs dynamic QR codes?

Static embeds the content permanently (free forever). Dynamic codes point at a redirect you can edit later — but they depend on a paid service and stop working if it lapses.
