The mic test asks your browser for microphone access, shows a live volume meter and waveform, lists all available microphones and can record a five-second sample so you can hear yourself. Audio is processed locally and never uploaded.
How to test your microphone
- Press Start mic test and allow microphone access when asked.
- Speak normally; the green bar and waveform should move.
- Use Record 5 seconds to listen back and check the quality.
Microphone not working?
- Check the browser’s permission icon in the address bar and allow the microphone.
- Choose the right device in the Microphone list (headset vs laptop mic).
- On Windows, open Settings → Privacy → Microphone and allow desktop apps and browsers.
- On macOS, open System Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone and enable your browser.
- Close other apps that may be using the mic (Zoom, Teams, Discord).
- Check for a physical mute switch on your headset.
Frequently asked questions
Is my audio recorded or uploaded?
No. The level meter is calculated in your browser, and the optional 5-second recording stays on your device.
Why does the meter move but people cannot hear me?
Your mic works, so check the selected microphone in the meeting app itself.
