When you need a 10 KB image
Very small limits like 10 KB are almost always for scanned signatures or thumb impressions on government and bank portals. A signature is mostly white space, so it compresses well if you crop tightly around the ink first.
Tips for a sharp result at 10 KB
Crop the signature closely, then compress. Aim for about 140 × 60 px to 300 × 120 px; larger scans will be reduced automatically. You can also crop away empty background with the crop tool before compressing.

Will my image be exactly 10 KB?
It will be at or just below 10 KB, usually within a few KB. Staying slightly under prevents portals from rejecting it.
Can I compress a PNG or screenshot?
Yes. It is converted to JPG (or WebP if you choose), with transparent areas filled with the background colour.
Is it safe for ID documents?
Yes. The compression happens in your browser; the file is never sent to a server.
Why does the form still say my file is too large?
Some portals count 1 KB as 1,000 bytes. Set the target a few KB lower, for example 7 KB, and try again.
