How to convert JPG to PNG

When converting to PNG makes sense
PNG is lossless, so every later edit and save keeps exactly the same pixels. Convert to PNG before you add text, annotations or layers, or when a platform only accepts PNG uploads. Bear in mind a PNG of a photo is often 3–5× bigger than the JPG.
Will it make the background transparent?
No. A JPG has no transparency information, so the PNG will have the same solid background. Converting changes the container, not the picture.
Frequently asked questions
Does JPG to PNG improve quality?
No. It prevents further loss on later saves, but the detail already removed by JPEG compression cannot be restored.
Why is my PNG bigger than the JPG?
PNG stores every pixel exactly. For photographs that takes much more space than lossy JPG compression.
