How to add a favicon to your website

Upload the file as /favicon.ico in your site root, then add <link rel="icon" href="/favicon.ico" sizes="any"> to your page head. In WordPress, use Appearance → Customize → Site Identity → Site Icon with a 512×512 PNG instead. For a full set of PNG and Apple touch icons, use the favicon generator.

Frequently asked questions

What size should a favicon be?

Include 16×16, 32×32 and 48×48 in the ICO. Modern sites also add a 180×180 Apple touch icon and an SVG icon.

Can I convert JPG to ICO?

Yes. Any image works, but use a PNG with a transparent background for the cleanest result.
