How to crop an image

  1. Choose or drop a photo. A crop box appears over it.
  2. Pick an aspect ratio, or keep Free and drag the corners. You can also type the exact width and height in pixels.
  3. Choose the file format and press Download image.

Cropping without losing quality

Cropping only removes pixels from the edges; the remaining area keeps its original resolution. Save as PNG for zero compression loss, or JPG at high quality for a smaller file. If you need a specific final size, crop to the right ratio first and then use the image resizer.

Frequently asked questions

How do I crop an image to a square?

Choose 1:1 Square in Aspect ratio, move the box over the part you want and download. To fit the whole image in a square without cutting anything, use the Square Image Maker instead.

Can I crop to exact pixel dimensions?

Yes. Type the width and height into the boxes. With a ratio selected, the other side updates automatically.

Does it work on mobile?

Yes. Drag the box and its handles with your finger.

Is my photo uploaded?

No. Cropping is done with the canvas API inside your browser.
