Remove photo location data before sharing
Photos can carry EXIF records containing a camera model, capture time and, when location tagging is enabled, GPS coordinates. This tool makes a fresh image from the decoded pixels. Original EXIF, IPTC and embedded text are not copied into the exported file.
How to use the metadata remover
- Choose a JPG, PNG or WebP photo from your device.
- Keep PNG for lossless pixel output, or choose JPG or WebP for a smaller copy.
- Select Create clean copy, inspect the preview, then download it.
What changes in the output?
The pixel dimensions are preserved. The browser normally applies the photo’s orientation while decoding. PNG preserves the decoded pixels without lossy compression; JPG and WebP can change image detail. JPG flattens transparent areas onto white. Colour appearance may change when an original colour profile is not retained.
The downloaded filename is generic, so a name containing personal information is not reused. The browser may write basic encoding or colour information into the new file. This is not an anonymization guarantee: faces, addresses, reflections and other visible details remain in the photo.
Does my photo leave my device?
The tool processes the selected photo locally and does not upload the image. There is no account or API key. It handles static JPG, PNG and WebP files; animated WebP input becomes a single still image.
