This resizer prepares your photo and signature for job applications in your browser. Pick a common preset — passport 3.5 × 4.5 cm or a 140 × 60 px signature — set a target size in KB, and each file is resized and compressed until it fits. Presets reflect common SSC, UPSC and IBPS-style specs — always check your notification.
How to resize your photo and signature
- Upload your photo on the left and your signature on the right — click, drag a file in, or paste with Ctrl+V.
- Choose a preset for each (or “Custom…” and type exact pixels). Presets show common SSC, UPSC and IBPS-style specs — always check your notification.
- Set the target size in KB (for example 50 for a photo, 20 for a signature).
- Check the live preview and the before → after stats. If cropping cuts your signature, switch fit mode to Fit (white padding).
- Press Download photo and Download signature, then upload both to the portal.
What size should my photo be for SSC, UPSC or IBPS applications?
Most Indian exam and bank-job notifications ask for a recent colour photograph around 3.5 × 4.5 cm (413 × 531 px at 300 DPI), between 20 and 50 KB as a JPG. These are common specs, not rules — every notification can differ, so your notification's instructions win every time. When in doubt, prepare the file at the top of the allowed range (50 KB) rather than the bottom.
What size should my signature be?
Signatures are usually requested around 140 × 60 px and between 10 and 20 KB as a JPG. Sign with dark blue or black ink on plain white paper, keep the signature well inside an imaginary box without touching the edges, and scan or photograph it in bright, even light — shadows and ruled paper are the most common reasons signatures get rejected.
How do I reduce a photo to under 50 KB?
Upload the photo, choose the photo preset, type 50 in “Target size (KB)”, and the tool does the rest: it draws the photo at the exact dimensions, then steps the JPEG quality down from 92% toward 30% until the file fits — shrinking the dimensions in 10% steps only if quality alone isn't enough. The stats line shows the original and final sizes so you can verify it before downloading.
How the compression works
Each file is drawn onto a canvas at your exact pixel dimensions first: Fill (crop to fit) centre-crops to the ratio, while Fit (white padding) scales the whole image down and pads the rest white — best for signatures you must not crop. Then the encoder loop runs: JPEG quality drops in steps until the file is under your target; PNG has no quality setting, so the dimensions shrink instead. Pixel maths: at 300 DPI, 3.5 × 4.5 cm = 413 × 531 px and 2 × 2 in = 600 × 600 px.
| Preset | Dimensions | Target size |
|---|---|---|
| Passport photo 3.5 × 4.5 cm | 413 × 531 px | 50 KB |
| Visa / ID 2 × 2 in | 600 × 600 px | 50 KB |
| SSC / IBPS / UPSC style photo | 413 × 531 px | 50 KB (20–50 KB range) |
| SSC / IBPS / UPSC style signature | 140 × 60 px | 20 KB (10–20 KB range) |
Use cases
The obvious one is government and bank job applications — SSC, UPSC, IBPS, state exams and railway recruitment all ask for a photo and signature within strict KB limits, and rejections for oversized uploads are common. The same presets work for university admission portals, scholarship forms, visa applications and any online form with a “photo must be under X KB” rule. Because everything happens in your browser, it's also safe for the ID documents you'd never want to upload to a random website.
Limitations
Presets reflect common specs, not guarantees — notifications change, and yours is the final authority. Heavy compression visibly softens faces, so don't chase an extremely low KB target from a tiny original; start from the highest-resolution photo you have. “Fill” mode crops, so check the preview before downloading. The tool can't fix a bad source: a blurry photo, a signature on ruled paper, or dark shadows will still look bad at exactly 50 KB.
Frequently asked questions
What is the photo size for SSC and IBPS applications?
Commonly a 3.5 × 4.5 cm colour photograph (413 × 531 px at 300 DPI) between 20 and 50 KB as a JPG. These are the specs most notifications use, but they are not universal — always check your own notification before uploading.
What is the signature size for job applications?
Commonly about 140 × 60 px and 10–20 KB as a JPG. Sign in dark blue or black ink on plain white paper, keep the signature clear of the edges, and avoid ruled paper, shadows or a cluttered background.
How do I compress my photo to 20 KB or 50 KB?
Upload it, pick the photo preset, type your target (20 or 50) into “Target size (KB)”, and the tool lowers the JPEG quality step by step — then shrinks the dimensions if needed — until the file fits. You see the final size before downloading.
Should I upload JPG or PNG?
Job portals almost always ask for JPG/JPEG. PNG is only useful if the notification names it: PNG files are bigger at the same dimensions, so the tool may have to shrink the image further to hit your KB target.
Will the tool crop my photo?
In “Fill (crop to fit)” mode the photo is centre-cropped to the exact ratio, which can trim edges — the preview shows exactly what is kept. Switch to “Fit (white padding)” when nothing may be cut, for example with a signature.
Are my photo and signature uploaded to a server?
No. Both files are resized and compressed by code running in your browser, and the downloads are generated on your device. Nothing leaves your phone or computer.
