Type a number and get it in words three ways: the Pakistani/Indian system (thousand, lakh, crore, arab), the international system (thousand, million, billion) and Urdu (ہزار، لاکھ، کروڑ). Decimals are written as paisa, and “Only” is added for cheques.
How to write an amount in words
- Type the amount (commas are fine).
- Choose the currency and letter case.
- Copy the wording you need for your cheque or document.
Cheque writing tips
- Start the words at the far left of the line and end with “Only” so nothing can be added.
- Draw a line through any empty space after the words.
- The amount in figures and in words must match, or the bank may return the cheque.
- In Pakistan, 1 lakh = 100,000 and 1 crore = 10,000,000 (100 lakh).
