Nisab: silver or gold?
Nisab is the minimum wealth on which zakat becomes due after one lunar year. Many scholars, including the common position followed in Pakistan, recommend the silver nisab because it is lower and benefits more people in need; others use gold. Choose the basis your scholar or local authority advises.
What is usually not zakatable
Your home, personal car, household furniture, clothes and tools used for work are generally exempt. Rules on jewellery worn regularly and on certain investments differ between schools of thought.
