Units from meter readings

Each appliance uses watts × quantity × hours per day ÷ 1,000 units (kWh) per day. The calculator adds them up for the month and, if you enter your average rate, estimates the energy cost. A separate box turns meter readings into units.

What this tool does

Estimates your electricity bill from units consumed: enter monthly kWh and see the approximate bill under the current slab rates — with fuel adjustments, taxes and surcharges itemised so the total makes sense.

Like all tools here it is free without sign-up, and where the task involves personal numbers, everything stays in your browser — used once for your lookup and never stored or shared.

Using it is simple: the inputs are “Days in month”, “Your average rate per unit (optional)”, “Previous reading” and “Present reading”; “+ Add appliance” runs the tool. Results update live as you work — there is no waiting and nothing to submit.

How to use

Have your reference details ready (bill, number or document), then follow the steps — the whole task takes under a minute.

  1. Enter your values in “Days in month”, “Your average rate per unit (optional)”, “Previous reading” and the other fields.
  2. Click “+ Add appliance” to run the tool and see the result.

How it works

Bill = Σ(units-in-slab × slab rate) + fixed charges + FPA + taxes. Pakistan’s progressive slabs charge more per unit as consumption rises (e.g. ~Rs 20–35+/unit across slabs in 2026), plus quarterly/fuel adjustments and 18% GST on the energy charge.

Personal inputs are handled locally wherever possible: the calculation or formatting happens in your browser, and identifiers you type are used once for your task, never stored or transmitted beyond what the task itself requires.

Use cases in Pakistan

Summer AC bills shock Pakistani households yearly — this shows which slab your consumption lands in and what 50 fewer units would save. Tenants estimate bills before renting; solar shoppers compute payback from their unit count.

Tasks like this recur on fixed rhythms — monthly bills, admission seasons, Ramazan, tax time — and each recurrence is smoother with the right helper bookmarked. It is a small thing that makes a bureaucratic process feel manageable.

Limitations

Estimate, not the DISCO’s bill: FPA, slab revisions and surcharges change with NEPRA notifications; protected vs unprotected consumer categories differ. For the exact figure, check the actual bill — this explains it, not replaces it.

Official sources remain authoritative: this helper simplifies the routine, but disputes, certifications and legal matters belong with the issuing authority. When a figure looks off, verify against the official record before acting.

Frequently asked questions

Why did my bill double?

Usually a slab jump: crossing into a higher slab raises the rate on those units, and summer AC use does exactly that. When a figure affects money or official records, cross-check against the official source once — the tool simplifies the routine, but the authority’s record is final.

What is FPA on the bill?

Fuel Price Adjustment — passes generation fuel-cost changes to consumers, varying monthly by NEPRA decision. Keep the reference numbers (bill, consumer, account) handy in your phone’s notes; this task recurs, and retyping from paper each time wastes the minutes the tool saves.

How do I reduce my bill?

Cut units (efficient fans, inverter AC, LED lights) — each slab you drop saves disproportionately. If something looks off, re-enter the inputs carefully before assuming an error — most surprises trace back to a mistyped digit.

Protected vs unprotected?

Lifeline/protected categories (low usage history) get subsidised rates; cross the threshold and rates jump — check your bill’s category. When a figure affects money or official records, cross-check against the official source once — the tool simplifies the routine, but the authority’s record is final.

Is my data uploaded or stored?

No. This tool runs entirely in your browser — what you type or paste never leaves your device, is never sent to a server, and is never stored. Closing the tab removes all trace. Keep the reference numbers (bill, consumer, account) handy in your phone’s notes; this task recurs, and retyping from paper each time wastes the minutes the tool saves.

Is it really free? Do I need an account?

Yes, free, and no account needed. Open the page and use it — no sign-up, no trial, no watermark on results. If something looks off, re-enter the inputs carefully before assuming an error — most surprises trace back to a mistyped digit.
