Enter the GPA and credit hours of each semester to get your cumulative grade point average (CGPA), weighted correctly by credit hours rather than a simple average of GPAs.
How to calculate CGPA
- Enter each semester’s GPA and credit hours.
- Add more semesters if needed.
- Read your CGPA.
Why weighting matters
A semester with 21 credit hours counts more than one with 15. CGPA = sum of (semester GPA × credit hours) ÷ total credit hours. A simple average of GPAs is only correct when every semester has the same credit hours.
CGPA to percentage
There is no single official formula. The tool shows CGPA ÷ 4 × 100 as a rough figure, but universities and employers may use their own conversion; HEC and many universities issue an equivalence certificate if a percentage is required.
Frequently asked questions
Is CGPA the same as GPA?
GPA usually refers to one semester; CGPA is cumulative across all semesters.
