All dates are expected and depend on the sighting of the moon by the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee.

The next Eid in Pakistan is Eid ul-Fitr, expected on 10 March 2027 — the countdown above ticks live in days, hours, minutes and seconds. Below it you will find the expected dates for Eid ul-Fitr and Eid ul-Adha for 2026 and 2027, with moon-sighting notes for each. Every date is expected: the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee confirms each Eid only after the crescent is sighted.

How do I use the Eid countdown?

  1. The big timer at the top counts down to the next upcoming Eid automatically — no setup needed.
  2. Read the days, hours, minutes and seconds remaining; the timer updates every second.
  3. Scroll to the upcoming Eids list to see expected dates for Eid ul-Fitr and Eid ul-Adha through 2027.
  4. Close to the date, watch for the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee's moon-sighting announcement, which can shift Eid by a day.

What are the expected Eid dates for 2026–2027?

Eid ul-Fitr 1447 was expected on 21 March 2026, marking the end of Ramadan, and Eid ul-Adha 1447 was expected on 27 May 2026, coinciding with the Hajj pilgrimage. Looking ahead, Eid ul-Fitr 1448 is expected around 10 March 2027 and Eid ul-Adha 1448 around 16 May 2027. Islamic dates move about 10–11 days earlier each Gregorian year because the lunar year is shorter than the solar year — which is why Eid keeps drifting from spring toward winter over the coming decade.

Eid ul-Fitr is celebrated on 1 Shawwal after Ramadan ends, and begins with the Eid prayer followed by Zakat al-Fitr (fitrana), which must be paid before the prayer. Eid ul-Adha falls on 10 Dhul-Hijjah during the Hajj days and is marked by the Eid prayer and Qurbani (sacrifice), whose meat is shared with family, relatives and the poor.

How moon sighting works in Pakistan

Each Islamic month begins with the sighting of the new crescent. On the 29th of Shaban, Ramadan and Dhul-Qadah, the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee meets with zonal committees across the country to collect moon-sighting testimonies. If the crescent is verified, the new month (and Eid) begins the next day; if not, the current month completes 30 days. Weather, the moon's age at sunset and its position above the horizon all affect visibility, which is why astronomical predictions — like the dates used in this countdown — are usually right but can occasionally be off by a day.

Getting ready for Eid

The countdown is also a practical planning clock. In the last week before Eid ul-Fitr, arrange Zakat al-Fitr (fitrana) — it must reach the poor before the Eid prayer, and many families in Pakistan pay it through their mosque or trusted charities a few days early. New clothes, sheer khurma ingredients and Eidi cash are traditionally bought in the final days, when markets stay open late. Before Eid ul-Adha, decide your Qurbani arrangement early: book through your mosque or a reliable organisation, confirm the slaughter day (qurbani can be done on the 10th, 11th or 12th of Dhul-Hijjah), and plan how the meat will be divided into three shares — family, relatives and the poor. Banks and government offices announce Eid holidays around the official moon-sighting declaration, usually three days for Eid ul-Fitr and three for Eid ul-Adha, so the countdown also tells travellers when to book transport home.

What are the limitations?

The countdown targets the astronomically expected dates, not the officially announced ones. In the final days before each Eid, treat the timer as “expected” and follow the official announcement. The countdown uses Pakistan Standard Time (UTC+5).
