The page reports your screen size in CSS pixels, the estimated physical pixels using the device pixel ratio, the current browser viewport, the available area minus taskbars, colour depth, orientation and aspect ratio. It updates as you resize the window.
How to check your screen resolution
- Open this page: the resolution appears at the top.
- Resize your window to see the viewport size update.
CSS pixels vs physical pixels
High-density screens (Retina, most phones) have a device pixel ratio of 2 or 3. A phone reporting 390 × 844 CSS pixels at 3× really has about 1170 × 2532 physical pixels. Wallpapers should match the physical size; websites are designed in CSS pixels.
Frequently asked questions
Why is my resolution lower than advertised?
Windows scaling (for example 150%) and high-DPI screens make the browser report a smaller CSS-pixel size. Multiply by the pixel ratio to get the panel’s real resolution.
